Anthony Vincent Ferrar a, Jr., 75, of C atonsville, p assed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023, with his family by his side.

He was born on March 24, 1947, the first son of the late Anthony Sr. and Margaret Ferrara (Trovato) of Baltimore, Maryland.

Anthony (Tony) was a 1965 graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, where he shined academically and in extracurriculars. He then went on to study English and chemistry at Loyola University Maryland, graduating in 1969.

Post graduation, Tony built himself a successful sales career. However, after decades in the business field, he chose to follow his passion for educating younger generations instead. Tony joyfully graduated with his Masters in elementary education at the age of 49 and proudly retired from the Baltimore County School District 20 years later.

In addition to being an enthusiastic educator, Tony spent his prime adult years playing baseball and fast-pitch softball, as well as coaching his son in baseball and traveling the country with him. He was a devoted family man who put family first until his very last day. He was deeply proud of his son—born on his very own birthdate in 1985, his daughter-in-law, and his 3 grandsons who lovingly refer to him as “Papa Tone.”

In recent years, as an exceptionally kin d and generous man, Tony enjoyed giving his time, energy, and resources to others. He loved sharing special moments with those close to him, watching and analyzing sports, reading, going to the movies, building trains, and cracking jokes to make others laugh.

He is survived by his beloved son, Kurt, daughter-in-law, Lindsay, and grandchildren, Lincoln, Whit, and Everett Ferrara; former wife and dear friend, Kim Ferrara; brother, Thomas, and sister-in-law, Barbara Ferrara; nephews, Michael (Amy) Ferrara and Thomas (Torri) Ferrara, and their children Christina, Rebecca, David, Zoey, Kiya, and Donovan Ferrara; as well as numerous cousins, close family friends, and past students whom he has stayed in touch with. All of these individuals will miss him dearly.

Tony, “Papa Tone,” will be remembered for his contagious smile and heart of gold.

Family and friends may call at the Candle Light Funeral Home at 1835 Frederick Road in Catonsville, Maryland on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4 to 7:00 pm. The subsequent funeral service will be for family only.
