Betsy Lynn (Feustle) Carpenter

Betsy Lynn Carpenter, 68, of Catonsville, MD died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, January 27th 2018. She was in her home, where she had lived for 38 years, and had created a lifetime of memories. She was not afraid to go and in fact had asked the Good Lord to take her when it was time and reunite her with her late parents and son. She fought a long and hard battle to overcome health issues and showed unwavering strength until her final breath.

Betsy was born on August 31, 1949 to Betty and John “Leonard” Feustle of Randallstown, MD. She was the eldest of 3 and is survived by her brother, John Feustle and sister, Margaret Szalecki. In her younger and healthier years, she enjoyed playing tennis and exercising, and spending summer days with her children at the Milford Mill Swim Club. After retirement, she spent her days walking around “the loop” on Woodlawn and Arbutus Avenue, gardening, playing her piano, talking with friends and enjoying the company of her mother.

Betsy spent the majority of her life, receiving education and educating others. She was truly a lifelong learner and forever a teacher. Betsy attended Western Maryland College and University of Maryland, Baltimore County and holds multiple Master’s Degrees in education. She taught for Carroll County Schools, Home and Hospital Tutoring and Baltimore County Schools for nearly 37 years before retiring. Meanwhile, she raised three children. Travis (deceased) was her first born, next came Ede, and then Heidi, each two years apart. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and providing the best possible future for her children.

Betsy’s legacy was anything but short. She celebrated back to back weddings in 2013, when Heidi and Corky Nash wed and then 2014, when Ede and Keith Collins wed.  The year 2016 was one of great excitement for Betsy as she welcomed two beautiful grand daughters, just 7 weeks apart; Rylee Mae Collins and Sloane Mae Nash. Her grand daughters not only brought her immense joy, but would be her driving force to continue to fight for recovery after her stroke. “Nana” was one tough cookie; faithful to the Lord, sweet, witty, resilient, and the world is a better place because of her.
