On March 18, 2023, Kevin Thomas Bennett, loving son of Barry Kevin Bennett and Maribeth Tacka Bennett, best brother of Douglas Bennett and his wife Lisa, beloved fiancée of Jordan Dougherty. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kevin graduated from Catonsville High School in 2010. He participated in the language department, theater, and music. He went on to earn his degree in Asian Studies from UMBC. He had a lifelong love of languages, and was fluent in Japanese. This was only matched by his love of music; he played the violin with passion, taught himself how to play guitar, sang with enthusiasm, and could pick out any tune on the piano. He was an avid gamer, and taught those games to aspiring players at his local card shops. He had an adventurous spirit and had lived in Maryland, Florida, New Hampshire, and Hawaii. Although Kevin didn’t live in Maryland for several years, his visits home over those years were celebrated and treasured by Kevin and all who spent that time with him.
Kevin displayed bottomless courage and boundless optimism in defiance of a failing heart and the daily challenges of an extended hospital stay. Over the course of Kevin’s hospitalization, his personality as an entertainer and his appreciation for his care was a source of joy to his entire medical team, and we are forever grateful for the exceptional care they provided him.
There is no question that Kevin left us too soon. His family and friends will miss his welcoming spirit, kindness, laughter, smile, and hugs. His memory will always be a blessing to those who know and love him.
Visitation will be held at the family-owned Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD (21228) on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Church at 11 am on Friday, March 24, 2023. Interment private.
