Margaret Frances Wright Pesce went home to the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, around 12:10 p.m. She was surrounded by the love of Ed Pesce, her devoted husband of 58 years and her four children as she journeyed to Heaven to join those who have gone before. She died peacefully in her sleep, holding the hand of her youngest child.

A native of Birmingham, AL, Margaret was born to her homemaker mother, Margaret Wright and her baker father, John Wright. Margaret enjoyed singing with her four brothers (Johnny, Lee, Bill and Jim) and Saturday morning trips to the cinema with her sister, Mary Jo Wright Costello. They teased Margaret for making everyone sit in the front row, since she had trouble seeing the screen. That’s how they found out she needed glasses to help her beautiful brown eyes.

Margaret, an alumnus of John Carroll High School, attended Siena College and Loyola University in New Orleans where she met the love of her life, Ed. He said he always prayed to meet the "right" girl and God answered his prayers when Margaret Wright answered the door for her roommate who was scheduled to go on a date with Ed. Margaret captured his heart in an instant.

The happy couple wed June 28, 1958 and they moved to Washington, D.C. where Margaret taught elementary school and Ed attended Georgetown Law School. Their adventures together led them to Georgia and then Maryland, where they settled down and raised four children; Peggy Menard (Spouse Matt Menard), Patti Jones (Spouse Greg Jones), Kathy Quinn and Ed Pesce (Spouse John Fahr).

Margaret’s hobbies were as diverse as her personality. She loved vacationing with her family at the beach, racking up points in Bridge, dropping a coin or two or more in a slot machine, crabbing off her secret, dilapidated pier in Chincoteague, and hunting for those hidden treasures in antique stores. She also demonstrated a flair for the written word with her weekly column in the Bowie Blade News.

After her family, Margaret took great pride in completing her Master’s degree at University of Maryland, graduating Cum Laude. The Baltimore Department of Social Services and Spring Grove Hospital Center benefited from Margaret’s many talents, where she fulfilled her dream of a career in social work.

Margaret took great delight and couldn’t get enough of her seven grandchildren: Christopher Quinn, Justin Quinn, David Quinn, Jonathan Menard, Timothy Menard, Gabrielle Menard and Kaitlyn Jones. You couldn’t get the smile off her face talking about her five great-grandchildren: Christopher Quinn Jr., Tyler Quinn, Logan Quinn, Austin Quinn and the newest addition, Mac Quinn, born May 11.

Margaret loved to laugh, sing, read and make jewelry, but above all she treasured her gift of faith that helped inspire her family and carried her through many of life’s challenges. While her absence will be profoundly felt, she will never be forgotten.

Please gather with Margaret’s family for her celebratory mass at St. Mark Roman Catholic Chapel, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228, on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
