Mary Lynn Nash, known as Lynn, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 surrounded by love and family members. She was 68 years old. Lynn is survived by her husband of 34 years, Tom Nash, of Catonsville, her son Sean Hoagland (wife Hannah) of New York City, stepson Ryan Nash (wife Nicole), stepson Corky Nash (wife Heidi), grandchildren Charlie, Jack, Sloane, and Josie Nash, all from Catonsville. She is also survived by her siblings,
Michael Sima (wife Sue), Barbara Sima, Nancy Toth (husband Matt and sons Austin and Dylan) Bob Sima (wife Shannon and son Luke), and aunts, Betty and Carol, in addition to many loving family members and countless friends.
Lynn was born to Robert and Mary Sima and raised in Ellicott City, Maryland with her siblings. She married Steve Hoagland, of Columbia, and gave birth to their son, Sean. After marrying Tom, they raised their three boys in Catonsville and Ellicott City. Tom was the love of her life and they were the very best of friends. They shared a happy, full life together that was a source of inspiration for all that knew them. Lynn spent time working as a dental assistant, fitness instructor, and massage therapist before retiring earlier this year. The highlight of her life was sharing it with Tom, raising her boys, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Lynn enjoyed traveling (especially cruises), gardening, exercise, reading, spoiling her grandchildren, and her recovery in AA. She was a very supportive friend to many. She often went above and beyond to care for her friends and family and never said “no”. She was an animal lover, and enjoyed spending Sundays cheering on the Ravens with her siblings. She was a great neighbor, especially to the many children on Somerset Road who begged to spend time with Lynn - better known as Mimi.
Lynn was a vital and vibrant part of her family and community, and she will be missed forever. She was a loving friend, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and aunt. She truly lived for her grandchildren, and shined as their Mimi. In leu of flowers, please make a donation in Lynn’s memory to the Helping Up Mission: https://give.helpingupmission.org.
