On August 9, 2024, Richard A. Matthews suddenly passed away. He was the loving husband of Heather L. Matthews (nee Wood); devoted father of Jared W, Matthews, Amanda C. Keller and Jason M. Keller; youngest son of John R. Matthews Sr. and Mary Matthews Kilduf; beloved brother of John R. Matthews, Jr., (Sherry) and Joseph M. Matthews (Melanie.) Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Rick affectionately known as “Dude” by friends and family was born and raised in Catonsville, Maryland. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Ellicott City where he served as an usher. He was an avid Ravens and Orioles fan. Rick was a man of many traits, from mechanic to grill master, from coach to servant to the Lord. He was exceptional at making wings, smoking meats, and fixing things. Lover of classic rock and Led Zeppelin. A competitive man, most notably during darts, where his friends called him the “Bullseye Master.” An excellent singer and history buff. He will be deeply missed and always in our hearts. His presence will be forever felt by those who knew him. May he rest in peace with the Lord. Until we meet again.
