Alfred Malcolm Reichart

Alfred Malcolm Reichart of Ellicott City Maryland, a decorated World War II veteran, passed away at age 97 surrounded by his family on October 12, 2019. He was born on September 23, 1922 in Brooklyn New York, the son of George and Margaret Reichart.
Malcolm was a graduate of New York University and served in World War II from 1942-45 as a Staff Sergeant in the 44th Bomb Squadron as a Navigator-Bombardier. His tours of duty included China, Burma and India (CBI) and Japan. His decorations included: Air Medal, 4 OLC’s, American Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Citation.
Malcolm was married to Joan Marie de Lignac at the Church of the Sacred Heart on July 2, 1949 in New York City. Together they raised six boys between New York City and California. He worked for Warner Lambert as a Pharmaceutical Sales Manager throughout the US and in 1974 moved to Columbia, Maryland to start Chesapeake Health Care Services as a mobile x-ray provider where he worked until his retirement in 1995.
Surviving Malcolm are his loving wife of 70 years, Joan (de Lignac), Children, Stephen of Ellicott City MD, James (Mary) of Catonsville MD, Donald of Ellicott City MD, Michael of Columbia MD. He was preceded in death by sons, Charles (Pam) and Neil Reichart. He had 3 Grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica), Brigette (Max) and Paul Reichart and 3 Great Grandchildren, Matteson, Caleb and Jacob.
Malcolm was a deeply kind, caring and generous person and was passionately dedicated to his family. He and Joan led the family on many adventurous trips together which took them through many states and local and national parks, and particularly wonderful and memorable trips in California and the west coast.
A mass will be offered in his intention at the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City at noon on December 1, 2019. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for both Alfred and his wife, Joan. On Friday December 6th at 10:00am at The Church of the Resurrection, Ellicott City MD.
