Ann O. (O'Mara) Schneider

Ann O’Mara Schneider passed away peacefully at Caritas House Assisted Living on September 27, 2016.  She was 99.  She was born on April 29, 1917, to Joseph and Annie O’Mara at the family home on Benson Avenue.  She attended St Joseph Monastery school and graduated from Institute of Notre Dame High School in 1935.  On Sept. 3, 1949, she married Anthony W. Schneider, and had three children, Edward, Patricia, and JoAnn.

Ann was a homemaker and a caregiver for her mother until her death in 1982.  Ann loved her family above all else.  She was very close to her sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret. Ann especially enjoyed her 5 grandchildren, and always was sure to have plenty of Kit Kat bars and brownies on hand.

There were always extended family gatherings for Christmas and Thanksgiving.  Ann loved to be with people and always had a good time. But, Ann’s favorite time of year was summer when the table would be covered with newspaper and a pile of hot steamed crabs would be on top.  And of course there was cold beer as well.

Ann moved from her family home on Benson Avenue in 2005, and lived at Caritas House, also on Benson Avenue until her passing.  The staff and residents at Caritas House became Ann’s second family.

Ann will be missed by so many.  But we know that those Irish eyes are smiling down on us from heaven.

Ann was predeceased by her husband in 1985, and by her son in 1995.  She is survived by her daughter Patricia Driggers and her husband, Robert, her daughter, JoAnn Meekins, her grandchildren Kristen Liberto, Elizabeth Cieplak, Eric Meekins, Lindsay Driggers, Robert Driggers, Jr, and her great grandson, Brooks Liberto.
