Barbara Carol Sampson, loving daughter of the late Frederick Wille, Sr., and Eleonora Wille (nee Doyas), sadly passed away at the early age of 81 in the evening of Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Barbara was a strong, honest woman, ever active and never one to let the pitfalls of life keep her down. She began her life in Baltimore, later moving to Ellicott City, MD, shortly after marrying her husband, Clifford. Barbara loved her new home and hoped to live there for as long as she possibly could. She took great pride in personally maintaining the immaculate gardens she cherished so much, befriending new neighbors, and decorating the interior with family heirlooms and items she collected during her travels.

Much like her father, Barbara enjoyed traveling the world, especially when accompanied by family or her many close friends. She had an affinity for Rolling Stones concerts, playing tennis, and spending time with her three treasured Border Collies. Her true passion in life though was devoting her time and energy to helping others, evidenced by the numerous charities she supported and her dedication to pursuing a Master of Education degree from Towson State College, which she would use to excel as a teacher, guidance counselor, and ESOL tutor with the Baltimore County Public Schools, striving to make a positive difference in the lives of the children she worked with.

Barbara had overwhelming love and devotion for her family and friends. She would nobly go out of her way to care for her husband and children, stay in touch with and visit loved ones, plan elaborate day trips to entertain and culture the children during their youth, and correspond with foreign relatives in an attempt to chart her family lineage (pre-DNA tracing).

As she moves on in her journey, she leaves behind her dear Border Collie Bella, loving husband of over 50 years Clifford Sampson, son Michael Sampson, daughter Elena Walker, grandchildren Kayla Walker, Lexi Walker, and Zac Mattingly, as well as her beloved younger siblings Frederick Wille, Jr., and Linda Kneafsey (nee Wille).

She will truly be missed by all those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, a charity very near and dear to her heart.

Funeral services are private.
