Barbara Meredith Jutson Yarlott died on April 4, 2016 in Ellicott City, Maryland after living a full life. She was born in New York City on July 31, 1924, the daughter of Robert P. Jutson and Elizabeth deLancey Bayard Hawthorne. Growing up in New York and its environs, she attended Barnard College and worked in various jobs in New York including for Vogue Magazine. She married Joseph L. Yarlott in 1956 at Grace Church in Manhattan. Soon afterwards, they relocated to Baltimore, where they raised three children, Katherine (Katy), Margaret and Robert. She had been a long term parishioner at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the Mt. Washington area of Baltimore, where she sang in the choir and worked in the altar guild. Despite her New York roots, she made a mean Maryland crab cake. After her children were grown, Barbara worked as an administrative assistant at Children's Hospital and for Dr. Gerald Johnson. After retirement, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, music, and reading almost anything but particularly history and mysteries. She also enjoyed her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Joseph, predeceased her. Barbara is survived by her children: Katherine and her husband John; Margaret and her husband Richard, and Robert and his wife Linda; and by her grandchildren Lea, Cara, Thomas, Andrew, Duncan, Mark, David, Elisabeth, Joseph, and William, and her great-grandchildren Finnegan, Tabitha and Gillion .
