On June 18, 2023, Carole Ann Brocato Hood, 69, of Ellicott City, MD, was called home.  She was the daughter of the late Carroll Brocato & Ann Brocato (nee Giannino); loving mother of Steven (Shannon) Hood; cherished Nonni to Ethan & Matthew Hood, beloved sister of Joanne (Steve) Dickinson & the late Frances Brocato;  Devoted Aunt to Phil Jr., Dan (Becky), Tony, Vince (Meredith), Ashley and Michelle. Carole is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces/nephews and friends.

Carole spent 39 years working for SSA. She had an amazing career up until she retired in December 2011 and spoke fondly of her time working for the government but was happy when she was able to hang up her badge and really start enjoying her life. She also worked at Kohls for many years even after retiring.

Carole was a social butterfly who loved to talk....and that she did, to anyone she met. She always had an amazing story to tell with a smile on her face and her smile was contagious. She loved to host and cook for her family and friends, she was happiest with a house full of people that she could dote on and she did that well. Everyone was welcome at any time, she encouraged it. She loved good food, and in turn, anything sweet for dessert. If there was music on, she was dancing. At the end of the night, she wanted to curl up under a blanket with the latest Hallmark movie. One of her favorite places to be was at the beach.  She loved spending time with her family and friends and will be missed deeply by everyone who loved her.

Family & friends may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 4:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ellicott City, MD on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10:00am. The family would like to invite everyone to the luncheon following the Mass at Matthew’s 1600 in Catonsville, MD.

One of Carole's greatest joys in life was to watch Ethan and Matthew play baseball.  Please consider donating to Sykesville Baseball.  Please send checks to Steven Hood or Venmo/PayPal @martz1103 and be sure to mention Carole's memory.  You may also donate to BridgingLife Hospice, 200 Memorial Ave, Westminster, MD.
