On Thursday, August 3, 2023, Carolyn Christine Vasold (nee Kapraun) passed away surrounded by her immediate family. She was the devoted wife of Thomas Vasold; loving mother of Matthew Vasold and his wife Michele, Mark Vasold and his wife Amber and Luke Vasold and his wife Kasey; dear sister of Edward Daniel Kapraun, Jr; devoted grandmother of Jonathan Vasold, Nicholas M. Vasold, Nicholas J. Vasold, Freddy Benny and Chase Benny and dear great-grandmother of Ameliah Vasold.

Carolyn was born in Catonsville, Maryland to Edward Kapraun and Laura Broyles on January 7th, 1950. After graduating from Catonsville high school in 1968, she attended Catonsville Community College and then Towson University where she met Tom Vasold in October of 1973. Tom and Carolyn quickly fell in love and married two months later, on December 22nd, 1973. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of this year.

She and Tom had three boys, Matthew (1981), Mark (1984), and Luke (1986) whom they raised in Catonsville, MD on Dutton Avenue. Carolyn loved her boys more than anything and was heavily involved in all their activities from attending PTA meetings to Boy Scouts, and all their sports, from swim meets to baseball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse games. You know what they say, there is a special place in heaven for a mother of three boys, and that doesn’t fall short with Carolyn Vasold.

She started her career working for the government and then took time off to raise her three children. After her children had grown into school age, she found her passion in early childhood education, working with special needs children at Catonsville Elementary School, providing care and love to those kids in need.

Carolyn was very involved in the Catonsville community, known and loved by so many, and her church, Salem Lutheran of Catonsville, where she was involved in all types of activities supporting the whole congregation. She was a gentle and kind soul that always looked after people and brought a smile to every occasion. She was truly one of God’s angels.

We will forever cherish the memories of Carolyn Vasold and we will never forget the love, laughter, and kindness that she brought to all those around her. She will be missed and will always be loved by the many hearts she's touched in her lifetime.

Funeral services will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, 905 Frederick Road, Catonsville on Thursday, August 10thbeginning at 11 am, followed by the Entombment at Loudon Park Cemetery Mausoleum at 1 pm on Thursday, August, 10th. Friends may call at the family-owned Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville on Wednesday, August 9th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
