Charles Howard Murtaugh, 82 of Catonsville, MD passed away peacefully on April 30, 2017 at Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, MD.  Born in Utica, New York, he was the son of the late Howard and Madelyn Murtaugh.  He married his wife, Venetia Marie in 1954.  Together they enjoyed traveling and were married 61 years before her passing in 2015.  He and Venetia resided in Harford County from 1963 until 2015, when he relocated to Charlestown Retirement Community.  He was enlisted as a Seaman in the U.S.  Naval Reserve from 1952-1960.  He retired from Towson State University in 1997, where he enjoyed a long career as an electronic technician and the head of their AV Department.  Charles loved traveling, the beach, the outdoors, wildlife, fishing, hunting, photography and spending time with his family and friends.  He is survived by his son, Jack Murtaugh and his wife, Eloise of Bel Air; daughter Sandy Tedrow and husband, Larry, of Glenelg. He was blessed with wonderful grandchildren, Todd and Andrea Tedrow, Matt and Lindsay Tedrow, Rachel Hyman and Adam Murtaugh, and wonderful step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Chrissy Schultz; and seven beautiful great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD  21228, on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 12:30 p.m.  The family is planning a military interment at a later date.
