Charles Llewellyn Omlor, “Charlie”

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, April 30, 1941, age 81 Married to Mary Elizabeth Wirts on May 6, 1963. They recently celebrated 59 years together.

He died peacefully in his sleep at the Gilchrist Center in Towson, MD, with his wife by his side.

He was predeceased by his father, Robert L. and step-mother, Helen Holly Omlor of Baltimore, MD. He is survived by wife, Mary, of Woodstock, MD; brother John W. Omlor and his wife Margaret E. Omlor, niece Tara Omlor of Hanover, PA; daughter, Mary Carol (Cricket) Miller and son-in-law, Roy Hillegass, of Cumberland, MD; brother-in-law, William H. Wirts, Jr of Westminster, MD, Grandsons, Charles D. Omlor, of Woodstock, MD and Corey A. Hillegass of Cumberland, MD; Grand-daughter, Cheyenne Clark of Parkville, MD and great-grandson, Warren E. Omlor of Parkville, MD.

He served in the Army from August 1959 to August/September 1962; the last part he served in Manheim, Germany.

He was a long-time member of the NRA and also joined the American Legion.

His hobby was collecting Minneapolis-Moline tractors and MM related items. He has quite an extensive collection.

He worked as a Senior Mechanic for Columbia Association (CA) in Columbia for over 30 years. “He was the head mechanic and was challenged to keep all of CA’s outdoor and indoor pools operating (over 70 pools, spas, water parks). He also aided CA in the maintenance of other water features such as the town fountain and various pumps and features at the golf courses and sports park.” Courtesy of John Herdson, CA, Aquatics Director. Family and friends may gather at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Rd. Catonsville, MD 21228 on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service taking place at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow the service at Lorraine Park Cemetery.
