Clarence Sams passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Maryland, at the age of 45.
Clarence is predeceased by his mother Joan Sams. Clarence is survived by his loving wife Katie of 6 years. They were married in Sanibel Island, Florida on December 4, 2010. Clarence is also survived by his 4 children from prior relationships: Corey (24 years old), Clarence (17 years old), Sage (13 years) and Jabari (11 years old).
Clarence is lovingly remembered by his seven brothers and sisters: Tanya, Richard, Kimberly, Baron, Pearl, Bernadette, and Yusuf; two sisters in law: Colleen and Carin, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Clarence was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1971. Clarence started his college career at SUNY, where he was a proud member of the Malik Sigma Psi fraternity. He graduated from Long Island University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and Maryville University of Saint Louis in 2015 with a master’s specialty degree, Family Nurse Practitioner. He worked as a Board Certified emergencyroom nurse at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Baltimore Washington Medical Center and various other facilities in New York and Baltimore. His nursing career really displayed his hardworking, outgoing and empathetic personality. Clarence spent the later part of 2015 and 2016 studying to take his Nurse Practitioner boards to be a certified family nurse practitioner.
Clarence enjoyed dancing, music, fishing, painting, playing with our labradoodle Boh, watching TCM movies, as well as spending time with his siblings, family, and extended family. Clarence really enjoyed making others smile and laugh. Clarence was a spiritual man who was extremely involved with daily meditation.
A celebration of Clarence’s life/ memorial service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 starting at 2pm, at Candlelight Funeral Home at 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Maryland in memory of Clarence Sams. Donations can be sent to BIAMD 2200 Kernan Drive, Baltimore, MD 21286.
