David Wayne Cursey

David Wayne Cursey passed away suddenly but peacefully at the age of 55 on Sunday June 14th, 2020 at his home in Catonsville, MD.

He was born in Baltimore on July 18th to Helen and Charles Cursey and was the youngest of their 4 children.  He grew up in Woodlawn and Westview Park and later spent several post high school years living in Ocean City, Maryland.

After achieving a carpentry certificate and commercial driver’s license, David worked in both fields for many years. He learned how to fix most anything during his time performing residential maintenance with several apartment complexes including Town & Country apartments in Ellicott City.  He accomplished one of his life goals  when he established Cursey Trucking, LLC where he was his own boss, hauling loads in his green Kenworth tri-axle dump truck.  He spent his most recent years as a dedicated employee of Mosaic Community Services where he was well respected for his maintenance and building skills and talents.

David loved cruising around on his Harley Davidson sportster motorcycle and often took Susan along for the ride.  He enjoyed fishing, particularly in the Atlantic Ocean where he would wade or swim out in order to place the line out as far as possible.  David loved to frequent local establishments and enjoyed socializing, shooting pool, and singing karaoke.  He was a fan of all things science and spent many hours both learning and sharing stories about the stars, UFOs, and life itself.

David will be forever remembered by his life partner, Susan E. (Marshall) Safford, their daughter, Hope K. Cursey, his mother, Helen L. Hronec, sisters, Carol L. Brookhart (spouse Jim Brookhart) and Christine Clark, nieces and nephews (James, April, Ryan, Mary, and Michael), great-nieces (Lily, Ella, and Jade), aunt (Deborah Warfield), Pearl Scheidegger, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Charles H. Cursey, stepfather, Steve T. Hronec, and brother, Richard M. Cursey.
