David Joseph Sutliff Profile Photo

David was born in Baltimore and grew up in Howard County, attending Swansfield Elementary School, Harpers Choice Middle School, Wilde Lake, and Riverview High Schools. He enjoyed the outdoors, drawing, reading, and making dad laugh. One of his most treasured adventures with dad was traveling to Rome then Paris for World Youth Day with Pope John Paul II 1997. Two years ago he recalled every detail of the trip to his dad when the Cathedral at Notre Dame burned. He traveled around the country on his own to Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco before landing in New York City. David made poor choices around the use of alcohol and drugs which overtook the last 10 years of his life. Despite it all he had a heart for animals and others in need despite his own needs. He had a fierce love for his daughters, Leah Mae and Niya Nicole Lynn.

He is survived by his father, Robert Sutliff and daughter, Leah Mae Sutliff. Niya Nicole Lynn Sutliff predeceased him in 2011 at age five months. David is survived by his foster brothers Joshua Cohen and Tim Brooks as well as his biological mother, Brenda Nash and siblings Amber Hain, Dean Lowe and Kathy Lowe. Other family include nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a village filled with countless Tough Love families, teachers, counselors, and friends.

David left us suddenly, but not totally unexpectedly, after an accident in a New York City subway. Services: Visitation 10:00 am until Noon Memorial Service will begin shortly after Noon Saturday, June 25, 2022 Ascension Catholic Church 1527 Potomac Ave. Halethorpe, MD. 21227.
