Delores (Dee) Zuskin

Delores (Dee) Zuskin, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, in her home in Ellicott City, Maryland, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old.

Born in Baltimore City, Maryland, Dee was the cherished daughter of John Vilkas and Josephine Bistrick. A proud graduate and noted athlete of Western High School's Class of 1950. Dee later pursued a fulfilling career as a Certified Medical Transcriptionist, serving Howard County General Hospital until her retirement in 1997.

Dee was a vivacious woman who lived life with infectious enthusiasm. Known for living every day to its fullest, she loved Frank Sinatra, traveling, vintage shopping, collecting distinctive shoes, baking cookies, and exploring flea markets. Above all, she treasured the fun times she had with family and friends.

Dee's legacy lives on through her family: daughters Sheree Riley and Francine Neville, son-in-law Bill Neville; grandson Christopher Riley and granddaughter-in-law Meredith Riley; granddaughter Kellie Riley Mothershead and grandson-in-law Brandon Mothershead; great-granddaughters Renner and Callyn Riley, and great-grandson Beckett Mothershead.

She is also remembered fondly by the countless lives she touched as a 49-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where she shared the story of her sobriety and inspired others to "pass it on."

A Celebration of Life to honor Dee will take place in March 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Tuerk House or to Gilchrist .

Dee's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, who were special angels that came into her life, Gilchrist Hospice and Home Helpers Home Care of Hanover for their compassionate support and care.

Dee's favorite mantra, "One Day At A Time," will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Rest in peace, Dee. "You bet" … we will keep your spirit alive and thriving.
