Donald Lee Compton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died on May 10, 2017 at 8:40 PM at University of Maryland Medical Center, after a 6 and half week battle with rare cancer, Angiosarcoma. He won previous battles with prostate cancer, liver failure, and a detached retina.
He was born on November 13, 1957 in Baltimore, MD to the late Benjamin and Odia (Bowers) Compton.
Donald leaves behind a loving wife, Cyndy Compton. They were married for 36 and a half years. He is also survived by three children, Lisa Compton and Derek Hadaway, Kellie and Richard Yost, and Justin Compton and Katie Wright; four grandchildren Kyle Hadaway, Macy Hadaway, Levi Hadaway, and Charlotte Compton; brothers George, Philip, Sammy, and Bobby; sisters Janice, Sharon, and Lily; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother Jack and sister Brenda.
He worked for Frito-Lay in Aberdeen, MD where he had perfect attendance for 21 years and received numerous other awards. Fork Lift safety was a very important part of his job and he worked hard to make it a safer experience for everyone involved. Before that, he worked for Quebecor Printing in Glen Burnie, MD.
Don loved to cut grass and work in his garden. Every spring he looked forward to planting his garden. Every Saturday you could find Don making his weekly trip to the dump. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. In order to do so, he was a Cub Scout leader for six years. He was also an avid participant in 5k walks around the Baltimore area. He was a passionate Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, as well as a lifelong fan of WWE wrestling.
He will be truly missed. He was loved by all who knew him.
