It is with great sorrow that we announce that our father, Edward J. Dunn, 68, has passed away. He was singular: kind, warm-hearted, selfless, always ready for adventure. He cared deeply for his friends and family, and he had a gift for always finding the beauty in any moment. Above all else, his goal in life was to spread joy.
Ed was a highly accomplished professional: he worked for over forty years in human resources, earning awards and accolades throughout his career. He was Vice President of Human Resources at West Jersey Hospital (later renamed Virtua) for 28 years until his hard-earned retirement in 2008. In his work for the hospital, he strove to stand up for his employees—something which he did in every facet of his life. That’s what made him extraordinary: he spoke up for those who could not speak for themselves.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, his perennial bride and the love of his life. He is also survived by two daughters, Amy Happel and Lisa Dunn, a son-in-law, Tim Happel, two granddaughters, Allie and Leah Happel, and a sister, Nancy Grubb.
In order to honor the man who made us laugh and taught us what it means to love, we are holding a celebration of his life this Friday.
