Edward G. Snyder, 93, of Ellicott City, MD, formerly of Jane Lew, passed away on December 6, 2014 after a period of failing health. He was married 71 years to the former Anna Ruth Swisher who died in 2013.
Born in Churchville, he was the youngest of seven children born to the late George R. and Emma Edith White Snyder. He is survived by a son, John Edward Snyder, husband of Barbara of Lancaster, PA, and a daughter, Donna Mealey of Baltimore, MD, four grandchildren, Jennifer Snyder Thomas, wife of Matthew of Macungie, PA, John Wesley Snyder II, husband of Michelle of Merrimack, NH, Dale Scott Mealey, husband of Susan of Towson, MD, and Karen Mealey Simmons, wife of Jason of Callaway, MD, and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Snyder was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a senior gas measurement specialist with Consolidated Gas Supply Corporation, now Dominion Resources, retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service. He was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Jane Lew. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a past Worshipful Master of Rock Cave Lodge #81 AF&AM. He was a volunteer for many years with Lewis County Senior Center and received an award for driving over 40,000 miles taking senior citizens to their medical appointments.
