Esther Ann (Mulvaney) Ames

On Sunday, August 19, 2018, Esther Ames passed away at the age of 90. Esther was born on February 10, 1928 to John and Anna (Juliano) Mulvaney. She was raised in Highlandtown, Baltimore, MD with her four siblings, James, Ellen, John, and Marie. Esther began working for Bell Atlantic (what was then C&P) in the late ‘50s where she met her future-husband, William Ames. On January 25, 1960 she and Bill were married. They went on to raise two children together, Bill and Anita. Esther eventually retired from AT&T in the early ‘80s.

When she wasn’t working hard to contribute to her family and home, Esther loved spending time in her garden, but possibly even more so in the kitchen. She was gifted at cooking, especially when it came to Italian dishes passed down through her family. Esther was known for her resourcefulness, dependability, generosity, and her kind and compassionate spirit. Esther opened her home to everyone and made everyone welcomed and safe.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all four of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Bill and Anita, and her granddaughters, Alyssa and Morgan.

Friends may call at the Candle Light Funeral Home on Thursday, 5 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church (Chapel), 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD. 21228 on Friday at 10:00am. Interment Loudon Park Cemetery.
