Eugene Francis Hannon, Sr. (83) of Halethorpe, Maryland departed peacefully at home surrounded by all his family on December 18, 2015.
The 10th of 12 children born in the southwest neighborhood of Irvington in Baltimore, Maryland to Patrick Anthony and Marguerite Wilhelmenia (Hohmann) Hannon on November 7, 1932. He attended St. Joseph’s Monastery grade school, the school his mother and later his children attended and graduated from the 9th grade at Gwynns Falls Jr High. He worked at Webster's Service Station in Edmondson Village and Irvington Esso before moving to Westowne Esso where he became a manager and then an owner of Westowne Exxon. He was compassionate man who gave what he could and rarely said no to those who asked for help. His many customers will remember him as an honest man who often didn’t charge for small things.
Gene “Beans” was a gifted athlete who excelled at sports, especially baseball and played in the Baltimore softball league with his brothers, Joey, Paddy and Butchie for The Loop, Iampieri’s, Birdseye and Continental bars.
His neices and nephews will remember him as the "funny" uncle who was a kid at heart and would go to extreme's to make us all laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, his teenage sweetheart and the love of his life for 67 years, Dolores Kathryn (Gebert) Hannon on April 27, 1952.
They were blessed with 5 children: Deborah Gene Hannon (Silcox), Dolores Francis and Anthony Ciotola, Eugene Francis, Jr and Paula, Donna Kathryn and Richard Crozier, James Patrick and Michelle Hannon; 13 Grandchildren: Devin, Dylan and Drew (Silcox) Hannon, Taylor Hannon Ciotola, Jocelyn Nichole (Hannon) Anderson, Sarah Gene (Hannon) Ferguson, Carly Elizabeth Hannon, Eric and Adam DeCosmo, Ben Crozier, Jessica Michele, Patrick James and Matthew Daniel Hannon; 5 Great Grandchildren: Jackson Cash Hannon, Marissa Isabella Hannon, Grayson Pierce DeCosmo, Olivia Brooklyn Hannon and Sloane Adelyn DeCosmo and 1 brother Thomas Francis Hannon, Sr. of Ocean City, Maryland and 54 nieces and nephews and their families.
He will join his parents Patrick & Marguerite in a heavenly reunion with his siblings; (Mary) Catherine (Hannon) Blair, Paul Anthony (Mikey), Elaine (Mary Theresa Hannon) Christy, Francis Xavier Sr. (Boots), Regina Mae (Hannon) Delaro, Alice Virginia (Hannon) Federline, James Ignatius, Sr., Joseph William, Patrick (Paddy) Anthony, Jr., and Jerome Paul (Butchie).

Clown Alley continues to provide "Christmas" to poor families in Baltimore. The Hannon's never forgot growing up in extreme poverty, and were greatful for their blessings and always, no matter what the circumstances in their own lives gave their time and money to make sure that children have a Happy Christmas. The delivery tradition is continued with his sons and grandsons.
