Frances Mentrek Peters, a longtime resident of Catonsville, passed away at Charlestown Retirement Community on Friday, February 28, at the age of 90. A native of Sharon, PA, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eugene Peters. She is survived by her loving children: Noel Lassise and her husband Craig of Ellicott City, MD; Michael Peters of Philadelphia, PA; Andrej Peterka of St. Paul, MN; and Shawn and his wife Susan Crawford of Madison, WI; as well as her five grandchildren: Andrew and Suzanne Lassise, Molly, Maisie and Fred Peters and great-grandson Jack Lassise.
After raising her family, Fran worked for many years as a librarian at both Catonsville and Miller Libraries in Ellicott City. During her 11 years at Charlestown, she enjoyed trivia games, assisting with food prep for Our Daily Bread and visiting with friends, especially when sharing a box of Rhebs chocolate was involved. She will be greatly missed.
