Gerard "Jerry" Kloby

May 31, 1935 — October 10, 2024

On October 10, 2024, Gerard Kloby passed away of natural causes, he was 89. Jerry was born on May 31, 1935, in Baltimore, MD. He had no siblings and was born to Dorothy C. Kloby (nee Hudzik) and later adopted and raised by Albert V. Kloby of Baltimore. He is preceded in death by both parents and his loving wife Joanne C. Kloby (nee Hulsey) and will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 1956, Jerry met Joanne while working at Gwynn Oak Amusement Park. Joanne’s father Andrew Carl Hulsey was the park’s Superintendent. They married in 1957 and remained so until her passing in August 2020. Together, they raised five children in Catonsville. He is survived by them and two spouses: Diana Hufnagel, K. Julie Simermeyer, Chris Moxley, Rob Kloby, wife Joanne L., Vince Kloby and wife Beth. Additionally, he loved and supported his ten grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Jerry graduated from Milford Mill High School and attended the University of Maryland College Park. Most of his career was spent working for Murray Corporation in Hunt Valley. His responsibilities were vast and included raw material procurement, product manufacturing oversight, shipping logistics and union contract negotiations, grievances and oversight. Late in his career he made two trips to Japan securing international business.

He supported his children’s activities, coached Little League Baseball and attended countless musicals, concerts, sporting events, high school and college graduations of his children and grandchildren regardless of the state or travel required to attend. In retirement he took an interest in photography as well as making wooden crafts and holiday trinkets. He went on multiple mission trips to China. Late in life while walking his dogs the younger, newer neighbors affectionately referred to him as the “Mayor of Longview”. However, Jerry’s greatest joy in life was the sense of pride he had and enjoyment he received from the accomplishments and successes, both personal and professional, of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Candlelight Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 16, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Visitation will also be held on Thursday October 17, at 10 AM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.
