Helen V. (Streit) Cavey

Helen (Streit) Cavey, 104, resident of Catonsville, died April 24, 2017. Helen was born April 12, 1913 to the late James C. and the late Ruth (Brown) Streit in Winchester, Va. Her father was a supervisor of Woolen Mills, so growing up she moved throughout the south. Upon leaving Louisville, Kentucky, she settled in Catonsville, Maryland. Helen graduated from Ellicott City High School in 1931 with a clerical degree. She married George Cavey in 1936. Together they travelled 48 of the 50 states and were married for 68 years until his passing in 2004. Helen taught Sunday school at the Catonsville Presbyterian Church and  served as President of the Catonsville Soroptimist Club. She also co-owned and worked with her husband George at Cavey Florist Supplies on Mellor Avenue, for 50 years. She is survived by her daughter Barbara; son in law, Pat; grandchildren Jennifer and Mark and his wife Regina and great grandchild Eliana.
