Howard Earl Roe, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home in Catonsville, MD.

Howard was born on August 3, 1937 in Winter Haven, Florida son of Oliver Howard and Christina (Bateman) Roe.  He attended schools in St. Petersburg, Florida and in January 1956 joined the U. S. Air Force.  He was stationed in England and France and was on the track team which enabled him to travel and compete in races at numerous bases.  Howard was discharged in March 1958.

After various jobs in Gainesville, Georgia and Jekyll Island he traveled to Boston Massachusetts with a friend and joined the Merchant Marines.  While living in Boston, a friend set him up on a blind date with Margaret Croutworst, whom he married on June 6, 1965. A company transfer relocated them in Catonsville, Maryland in July 1972.  He worked in the Medical Industry in Renewal Parts and Regulatory Affairs until his retirement in 2008.

Howard was active in Masonry, first in Massachusetts and then in Maryland and District of Columbia.  Various titles over the years include: Monarch of Kallipolis Grotto, Royal Patron of Joseph T. Ambrose Memorial Court Order of the Amaranth. Grand Royal Patron of Maryland.  Worthy Patron of Palestine Chapter No. 82 and Woodlawn Chapter No. 101, Order of the Eastern Star. Watchman of Shepherds of Maryland Shrine and Dogwood Shrine of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, High Priest of R&SM, was in charge of the Robing Room at the Scottish Rite temple, 33d degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Royal Order of Scotland.

Howard was also very involved in the Maryland Defense Force teaching drills. With this role, Howard needed military insignia and ribbons and could not wait for Suzie to come home on leave so she could take him Clothing Sales at Fort Meade.

Upon the death of his Father, he inherited his 1942 Plymouth which he was proud to display at many events and was Parade Chairman for years for the Antique Motor Club of Greater Baltimore.

Howard was an avid collector of Marx Toy Trains and other collectables such as Hess Trucks, Pin Ball Machines, Tootsietoys, Hallmark Annual Lionel train ornaments and Masonic memorabilia.

Besides his love of collecting various items, Howard was always working in his yard, loved a good conversation and a corny joke.  He also had a wonderful sense of adventure and was always traveling around with his wife Margaret and went on a few overseas trips with his daughter Suzie.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret: Daughters Christine of Elkridge, MD, Suzanne of Florence, NJ – husband Ramesh Nair and sons Ayden and Trysten. And Elizabeth of Catonsville, MD and children Brad and Hailey Isabella.
