Irma G. (Collins) Tillman

Irma G. Tillman, 86, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Irma was born in Baltimore on March 24, 1931 to Johanna Collins and Charles Collins.  She lived in Baltimore where she met Donald E. Tillman.  They were married for 45 years until Don’s death in 1997.

Irma worked at Eastern Venetian Blinds as Don was serving in the United States Army.  She continued to work as he earned his degree from the University of Maryland College Park.  Don and Irma had two daughters, Lynne and Joyce, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  They moved to Baltimore County in 1965.

Irma and Don travelled to Europe several times, especially Germany where Don’s family immigrated from.  They also were huge dog lovers and raised Staffordshire Bull Terriors for many years.  They enjoyed attending sports and school activities for their grandchildren. After Don’s retirement in 1995 they moved to Kent Island where Irma lived for several years after Don’s death until her move to Severna Park, Maryland in 2005.

Irma was one of the founders along with her daughter Lynne and son-in-law Maury of the Canine Fitness Center in Crownsville, Maryland.  She worked there from its opening in 2002 until 2012.  She was also active with her church, Zion Lutheran Church in Baltimore, the SPCA in Anne Arundel County and many dog events.

She moved to an assisted living facility in June 2015 until her death.
