James "Jim" Shreve, aged 78, of Catonsville MD, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Jim was born on Sunday, August 13, 1944 to Myrtle (nee: Harris) and Glen Shreve in Pasadena, MD. He was the fifth of eight children and he attended Glen Burnie High School as a teenager. After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and eventually served in Vietnam from 1966-67.
In April 1969, Jim and wife, Nancy, were happily joined in matrimony at St. Mark's Church in Catonsville, MD. Jim and Nancy went on to have three children - Tracey, Michael, and Jamie.
Jim worked construction at McClean Contracting Company for 35 years as a Carpenter Foreman, retiring in 2004. During Jim's retirement years, he enjoyed activities with his local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7472. Most recently, Jim also enjoyed spending time at home with his beloved family dog, Emma. Jim also relished collecting Lionel trains and Hess trucks, acquiring a new Hess truck each year when they were released.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Myrtle and Glen Shreve; his brothers, Bill, Herman, and Tom Shreve; and his sister, Patricia Rickard. Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy; children Tracey, Michael, and Jamie; grandchildren, Caz, Christopher, and Bailey; siblings, Na Smith, Bob Shreve (Sue), and Shirl Huber-Cole (Steve); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and Charles Wanko; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family and friends may gather at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228, on August 14, 2023 from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held in the chapel of St. Mark's Catholic Church, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228, on August 15, 2023 at 10:00am. Mass will be followed by interment and Honor Guard at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21227, at 12:00pm.
