John L. Schneider, Jr.

John L. Schneider, Jr., 80, of Catonsville, MD, passed away on September 29, 2023 .  He was the son of the late John L. Schneider, Sr. & Susan Fowble.

Growing up in Sykesville, John attended Glenelg High School where he earned many academic and athletic achievements.

John received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park and began his career at Bethlehem Steel later earning his Masters of Business Administration.  After starting his own engineering firm more than 5 decades ago, John worked with thousands of commercial and individual clients  on large and small projects throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

Personally, John and Grace, his wife 38 years,  enjoyed many adventures traveling to Key West, Savannah, Memphis, Disney World, Williamsburg and Europe when not relaxing at their cabin in West Virginia.

John’s big heart, extraordinary work ethic and love of family will be missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his loving wife Grace, his three sons Mike Schneider of Owings, Maryland, Tim Schneider and his wife, Laura, of New Orleans, Larry Devitt and his wife, Katie, of Sherwood Forest, Maryland, his grandchildren Tommy, Danny, Becky, and Greta Schneider, Mary Beth (Devitt) Blasetti and her husband, Nick, Robby Devitt and his wife, Amanda, and Patrick Devitt, and his great granddaughter Raelynn Plant

Family & friends may gather at Candle Light Funeral Home (1835 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD 21228) on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00. A funeral service will take place at Candle Light Funeral Home on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10:00am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be sent to the National Kidney Foundation in honor of John.
