John “Jack” Lee Swartzback, 74, of Baltimore, Maryland peacefully passed away on July 9, 2014 in Seasons Hospice in Baltimore with his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Graves Swartzback by his side. He was the son of Edith Virginia Linthicum Swartzback and the late William Melvin Swartzback. Visitation is open to family and friends on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Candle Light Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
Jack was born on February 1, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was married to Patricia on November 27, 1965 in Great Falls, Montana where he was stationed while serving in the United States Air Force. After they were married, they moved to Baltimore where they lived happily for 48 years. Jack worked for Phelps Packing & Rubber Company in Elkridge, Maryland for over 40 years and retired in 2007.
Jack attended Catonsville United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Catonsville Senior Center and taught a carving class. He loved wood carving and sharing his ducks and birds with family. He also enjoyed many years of bowling, loved to fish, spend time with his family and made many memories traveling with Patricia and their family. He will be remembered for his faith, laid-back spirit, sense of humor and love of his family.
The family would like to thank St. Agnes Hospital and Seasons Hospice for the care they took looking after Jack his last week with us. We would also like to thank Rev. Mark Waddell and Rev. Jeff Odom for the love and support they have given to our family.
Jack is survived by his mother, Edith Swartzback, his loving wife, Patricia, and their two daughters Lorelei Misenheimer and her husband Gary of Albemarle, North Carolina, grandchildren, Raeanna Misenheimer, Tyler Misenheimer and Loriel Misenheimer, and Tracy Ann Moore and her husband Jeff of Catonsville, Maryland, step-granddaughters Trisha (Mark) Fitch and Mindy Moore, step-great grandchildren, Brooke Fitch, Nathan Fitch and Lacey Bailey and a number of other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Mel” Swartzback.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Catonsville United Methodist Church or Seasons Hospice at Northwest Hospital.
