Joseph J (“Joe”) Brazzamano of Catonsville Maryland, formerly of University Park Florida, and Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2019, two days before his 97th birthday, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Pat (LeDonne) Brazzamano, his wife of 65 years.
Joe was, born on April 11, 1922, in Ozone Park New York. He graduated from Bushwick High School, and served as a Sargent in the United States Army stationed in Europe during World War II. After discharge from service, he earned a degree in electrical engineering from Hofstra University/Mitchell College. He was a 25 year employee of Northrop Grumman working as an aerospace engineer on early detection radar systems for military aircraft. After a distinguished career Joe, together with Pat, embraced retirement under the Florida sun. In his later years Joe and Pat relocated to Charlestown Senior Living community to be closer to family.
Joe was an active member of his church community, he belonged to the Sons of Italy service organization and, to honor the memory of his late daughter Joann, Joe was involved in fund raising to support Thalassemia research which ultimately led to a cure for this once fatal blood disorder. He enjoyed golf, tennis, travel, socializing, cheering on New York sports teams, and most of all spending time with friends and family. Joe will be remembered for his quick smile, infectious laughter, and loving devotion to his family. Any life he touched was made a little brighter.
He is survived by his wife Pat (LeDonne) Brazzamano, daughters Susan Bottomley and her husband Paul Bottomley of Columbia Maryland, Lisa Kenney and her husband Stephen Kenney of Sudbury Massachusetts, and seven grandchildren Jocelyn Bottomley, Sarah Bottomley, Madeline Bottomley, Thomas Bottomley, Ryan Kenney, Andrew Kenney, and Caroline Kenney. He was predeceased by his daughter Joann Brazzamano, parents Jack and Jenny (Puleo) Brazzamano, brother Paul Brazzamano, and sister Constance Potts.
A memorial mass will be held on Monday April 15, 2019 at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Angels, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville MD. Visitation with family will occur before the service from 9:30-10:00am. Interment will be private.
