June Elizabeth “Judy” Smoot, 76, of Columbia, MD, formerly of Slanesville, WV, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Coopers Assistant Group Home in Columbia, MD.
Born on June 30, 1939 in Slanesville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Dawson Jacob Shanholtz and Wilda Virginia (Fultz) Shanholtz.
She was a homemaker, liked cooking, gardening and loved to be with family.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Smoot, a brother, Dawson Junior Shanholtz and a sister, Mildred Belt.
Surviving are four daughters, Margaret DeMayo (Tom) of Winchester, VA, Susan Flaherty (Mark) of Catonsville, MD, Judith Riffle Judy (William) of Augusta, Pamela Henry(Tony) of Hedgesville, WV; a son, Mark Ritter of White Post, VA; two sisters, Claudine Smoot of Hagerstown, MD, Hazel Iser of Winchester, VA, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 17, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in Salem United Methodist Church at Slanesville, W.V. with Pastor Steve Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a dinner afterwards at Augusta United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 17, 2016, from 12:00P.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the church.
