Lawrence Edward Bookhultz II (“Larry”) of St. Denis, Maryland, beloved husband of Dorothy Maureen Bookhultz and devoted father of Benjamin John Bookhultz and Elizabeth Anne Kekeris, passed away on August 17, 2024.

Larry was born on October 28, 1953 to Lawrence and Concetta Bookhultz and grew up in Catonsville, Maryland. He attended St. Mark School, Catonsville High School, Catonsville Community College, and University of Maryland Global Campus.

Larry was a master craftsman. He enjoyed furniture making, woodcarving, decorative arts, and dedicated many years to restoring his Victorian era family home. He put his skills to use during his 30 year career at University of Maryland College Park as a carpentry foreman.

Larry was a dedicated father who enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America with Ben for a decade and was Cub Master for Pack 337. He supported Elizabeth in Irish step dancing, from practices to competitions, and even helped design the Celtic dragons on her dress. Larry loved the outdoors and took his family on vacations to National Parks, revisiting places he backpacked as a young man during extended trips out West.

Larry was a man of many talents and interests. He loved history, drawing, painting, cooking, ship model making, train displays, trivia, and puzzles. He listened to many genres of music, including classic rock, blues, bluegrass, and old time. He and Dorothy attended music festivals together and were flat foot cloggers in the dance group Turkeys on the Run.

He is survived by his siblings Clara M. Wells, Gregory J. Bookhultz, Anthony C. Bookhultz, Patricia A. McMillin, and Joan M. Stuhlreyer. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Ethan and Natalie Bookhultz.
