On August 26, 2018, Mariana Frances Childs (nee: Miller) passed away peacefully at St. Agnes Hospital, following a courageous 28 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis; beloved wife of Jeffrey Childs; devoted mother of Michael P. Childs and Matthew T. Childs; dear daughter of Harry D. Miller and the late Frances Miller (nee: Case); loving sister of Mary Evelyn Miller and spouse Nancy Howard, Mark Miller and spouse Kelley, Christina Miller, Michael Miller and spouse Gail, Teresa Rehrey and spouse John and Steven Miller; sister-in-law of Steven Childs and spouse Teri, Michael Childs and spouse Michelle and Susan Weber and spouse Mark. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mariana was born on February 4, 1960 in Baltimore, MD and was a 1978 graduate of Seton High School, where she loved art and was active in drama. She held a Bachelor’s Degree in Math from Towson University and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins; she used these talents while working as a software engineer on space programs during her career at Westinghouse Electric/Northrop Grumman, which ended with her disability in 2001.

On April 1, 1989, Mariana married Jeffrey Childs. Following the birth of their two sons, she became a true “soccer mom” in the EDRECO and Catonsville youth soccer and baseball programs and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved her family more than anything else.

Mariana enjoyed travelling and particularly loved hiking and visiting National Parks, attending several Indy 500’s and annual beach trips with extended family and friends on the Outer Banks of Virginia and North Carolina.

Mariana fought with strength and conviction and her smile, warmth and humor will be missed by everyone she touched.
