In an unimaginable loss, Mark T. Neebe passed away suddenly on November 2, 2024, at the age of 63. Mark was truly one of a kind—an adventurer, a mentor, and a friend to all who had the joy of knowing him. His infectious laugh, quick wit, and vivid storytelling, often laced with tales of his travels and life experiences, will be deeply missed.
Mark grew up in Vestal, NY, graduated from Virginia Tech in 1983, and began his professional journey at GE in Westover, NY. In March 1987, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Westinghouse, now Northrop Grumman, where he continued to work for almost 38 years with passion and dedication until his passing.
Mark and his beloved wife, Deb, married in October 2000, beginning a life of love, friendship, and adventure. Mark was not only a devoted husband but also an extraordinary father to his daughters, Lauren and Kathryn. He was their biggest cheerleader, always present at school events and sports games, often taking on the role of coach. He ensured every player felt valued, offering equal playing time and inclusion for all.
Mark’s love for exploration was rooted in his childhood adventures with his father as a Boy Scout. He carried this passion throughout his life, sharing countless journeys with his family, instilling a love of the outdoors, and inspiring them to embrace all that life has to offer. He found joy in daily hikes with his hound, Eila Bean, through the Patapsco State Park, rounds of golf, beach days, ski trips, and cheering on the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles—often hosting tailgates that were as lively as they were legendary.
At Northrop Grumman, Mark’s creativity and collaborative spirit shone brightly. He thrived on mentoring young engineers and building teams that developed cutting-edge technology. His ability to connect with people extended far beyond the workplace; his network of colleagues and friends spanned the globe, with chance encounters in airports being a common occurrence.
Mark taught us all a profound lesson: that life is best lived as a balance of hard work and joyful adventure. He cherished his family and friends deeply and lived every moment to its fullest.
Mark is survived by his wife, Deb, and their daughters, Lauren and Kathryn. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn, and two sisters, Janet and Jill. He joins his father, Frederick Neebe, in his heavenly home. Mark leaves behind countless colleagues, friends, and extended family members who were touched by his kindness, humor, and boundless enthusiasm for life.
Mark’s legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
