Mary Rae Powell, 60, of Ellicott City, Maryland, died peacefully on April 14, 2022.
She was born Mary Rae Peters in Baltimore, Maryland to Raymond A. Peters and the late Joyce E. Peters. Mary was predeceased by her mother Joyce E. Peters (Nee Mortensen) and sister, Barbara Peters.

Mary is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her devoted husband Milton “Butch” E. Powell, III. As well as her adoring father, Raymond A. Peters; loving siblings, Theresa Peters, Catherine Arnold, David Peters and Thomas Peters; Nephews, Harrison Arnold, Maxwell Arnold, Drew Peters, Todd Peters and Beau Peters; Nieces, Katherine Stevenson, Avery Arnold, Paige Arnold, and Cate Arnold. Including many other cherished family and friends.

Mary attended Forest Hills High School and was the valedictorian of her class in 1979. She was also a proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology. She had a distinguished career as a Maryland licensed professional engineer. Mary was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan and her spirit touched the lives of many. She will be greatly missed.

Family and friends may gather at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Rd. Catonsville, MD 21228 on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Saint Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, 7850 Parkside Blvd, Hanover, MD 21076. Additionally family and friends may gather at the Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home,1312 Graham Ave. Windber, PA 15963 on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Saint's Cyril and Methodius Church, 604 Graham Ave.,Windber, PA 15963 with Committal Service and Burial to follow at Saint's Cyril and Methodius Cemetery #02, 706 4th St., Windber, Pennsylvania, 15963.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Students “For Life” of America .
