Mary Warren Smith

Mary Warren (Hunter) Smith, 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3rd, surrounded by her family in the home she shared with her devoted husband, Craig Smith, in Catonsville, Maryland.

Born on October 8, 1952 in Front Royal, Virginia to Melvin D. Hunter and Pauline A. Hunter (nee: Bowyer), Mary was known for her warmth, kindness and loving spirit.  To know her was to love her.

Mary met the love of her life, Craig, on a pivotal day in November 1969 and the rest is history.

Mary is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Craig Smith, married for 50 years; her children Stephen Smith, Jr. (Allison Amara) and Lindsay Scully (Finbar Scully); and her cherished grandchildren, Ronan, Declan, and Callum. Mary also leaves behind her sisters, Marcia Miller and Patricia Sherwood and many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Hunter.

Among Mary's most significant accomplishments was raising her two children and being an integral part of her grandchildren's lives to whom she was dearly known as Nano. They were her pride and joy. She served as a civilian for the Federal Government for 35 years where she made lifelong friends.

Her legacy will be one of unyielding love and kindness.  Even when sick, she never faltered in caring for her loved ones more than she did for herself.

Mary's loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew her and loved her.  Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience and kindness.

Friends and family may gather at the Candle Light Funeral Home on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00pm.  Mass will follow at 5:00 pm at St. Mark Chapel, 30 Melvin Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. Interment will be private.
