Mary (Mary Jo) Joan Sturm was reunited with her late husband, Dori Sturm, on July 14, 2023. She was surrounded by her family.

Mary Jo was born on July 28, 1949. Her parents, Theodore and Mary Tronolone, raised her in the Baltimore-Metro area. She attended Trinity High School and earned a degree from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University).

Following college, Mary Jo was engaged to be married to her then fiancé, Dori. Weeks before the wedding, Dori was involved in a devastating motor vehicle collision. Mary Jo dutifully stood by his side for years during his hospitalization and long recovery, paying daily visits and offering her careful oversight and loving attention. After Dori’s miraculous recovery, they were finally married on November 25, 1970.

Mary Jo and Dori raised their two children, Ryan and Steven, in Catonsville. After staying home to care for them through elementary school, Mary Jo went back to work as an office manager with a dear family friend. When Mary Jo wasn’t busy attending every practice and game for her two sons’ sporting events, she loved socializing with her neighbors, dining out, going to movies, and being with her family. She was an avid reader and loved cooking large family dinners.

She lived a full life with her two sons at home, but her true calling began after the kids left — becoming a grandmother. There was nothing she enjoyed more than playing with (and subsequently cleaning up after), cuddling, spoiling, and loving her four grandchildren, Rebecca, Nicholas, Theodore and Joseph. Even during her hardest days coping with dementia, being “Mom Mom” was able to bring her joy.

Mary Jo’s life signifies strength, love, kindness, and loyalty. She raised her children, and grandchildren, with unconditional love and support. She was the epitome of what it is to be a good friend, spouse, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her sons Ryan (wife Rachel) and Steven (wife Allison), her four grandchildren: Rebecca, Nicholas, Theodore and Joseph, and her sister, Patti Tronolone.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark's Chapel on Friday, August 4th, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am.
