Mary Jane (Garvey) Mcmanus

Daughter of the late Gertrude and James Francis Garvey Sr. of Catonsville.  She is predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph John McManus.  Also predeceased by her dear siblings, James F. Garvey Jr., Mary Gertrude Kirsch (Joseph), C.Godfrey Garvey, Mary Elizabeth Hession, Sr. Mary Ann Garvey R.S.M and William J. Garvey. Survived by sister in laws, Mary Callen, Janice Garvey and Joan Garvey.

Beloved mother of Joseph McManus (Diane), Mary Jane Sacker, James McManus, Patrick G. McManus, Rita Williams (Michael), John McManus, Tom McManus (Mary Pat), Mary Cullen Grupenhoff (John Campbell) and former daughter in law, Jane McManus

Loving grandmother of Michael (Joyce) McManus, Erin McManus, Megan McManus, Jen Sacker, Katie Sacker, Christopher McManus, Cecilia McManus, Brendan Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Caroline Williams, Tommy McManus, Emmy McManus, Danny McManus and Joseph Grupenhoff.

Jane received her undergraduate degree from Notre Dame College of Maryland and a Master’s Degree from Towson University. She had a long career in teaching and was very passionate about her students. Following her retirement, she continued her passion in education by volunteering in many venues and received numerous service recognition awards.

Her family was very important. She always looked forward to the next family gathering.  She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and her greatest joy was to travel to the beach every summer to spend time with them. Her favorite overseas trip was to Ireland with her husband, Joe and her sister-in-law, Rose Anne.  She relished her Irish heritage and often shared fond memories of her magical trip to the Emerald Isle.

She will be truly missed but her family and friends will be forever comforted knowing that she will rest forever in God’s loving hands.

A Roman Catholic - Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  on Wednesday May 17th at 10:00am at St. Mark Chapel.
