It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend, Matt, who left us far too soon at the age of 44. Matt was a man of great kindness and compassion, with a heart as big as his smile and a gentle soul.

He was a devoted father to his daughter, Olive, whom he loved more than anything in the world. He always put her needs above his own and was her biggest supporter and cheerleader in life. Matt was also a loving husband and a loyal friend, always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need.  His selflessness and generosity touched the lives of so many and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

In his free time, Matt enjoyed watching sports but was especially devoted to Arsenal football club, Michigan for college football, and his beloved Baltimore Ravens. He was an avid gamer, tech aficionado, and bread connoisseur, and enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family. He had an encyclopedic memory and could outwit anyone with his mastery of every known fact. His Dad jokes were legendary.

Matt leaves behind his beloved daughter, Olive, as well as his wife, Erin, his parents, Art and Mary Ellen Ouslander, a brother Jake Ouslander [Julieta], a twin sister Sarah Gretczko [Michael] and nephews and niece Luca, Jack, and Scarlett as well as a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly. Though his time with us was too short, his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

We will honor Matt’s life on July 2, 2024 at St Mark Church in Catonsville with visitation at 10am, funeral mass at 11am followed by burial at Serenity Ridge and a celebration of Matt’s life to follow at Matthew’s 1600 in Catonsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to John's Hopkins Pediatric Cardiology c/o Johns Hopkins Children’s Center
1800 Orleans Street Baltimore, MD 21287.

Rest in peace, dear Matt. You will always be remembered for your big heart and gentle soul.
