Michael Gerard Hines, 69, of Baltimore, died on Tuesday September 15, 2015 in the Intensive Care unit at St. Agnes Hospital of complications related to his valiant struggle with both lung and throat cancer, debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and osteomyelitis.
Mike was the youngest son of six children born on February 8, 1946 to Mary Kathryn O’Grady Hines and James Holden Hines, Sr. of St. Martin’s parish in West Baltimore. He attended Mt. Saint Joseph High School and worked in various sales positions before settling into a much loved career in heavy equipment transport.
A social guy and great dancer, Mike was a lifelong avid golf, basketball, football, and baseball fan. He had been an exceptional pool player in his youth competing in championship matches locally and in Las Vegas and even played with the legendary “Minnesota Fats”.
“Uncle Michael” was dearly loved by his multiple nieces, nephews and their children too and was a faithful fan of their various sports, musical or academic events. He was a cat lover who named all of his feline friends Morris. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and proud of his Irish heritage.
Mike is survived by his loving siblings Gene Patrick Hines of Los Angeles, California and James H Hines Jr. of Catonsville; Mary Kathryn Charbonneau of Rutland, Vermont and Patricia Supik and husband Dennis of Ocean View Delaware. He lost his beloved sister Eileen Hines Marion to cancer in 2009. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews including Michael and Becky Buschman of Seattle Washington; David Buschman and Jessica Zarzycki of New York; Lisa Charbonneau - Smith and Matt Charbonneau of Rutland Vermont; Jennifer, Wayne, Jake and Chloe Canapp of Pasadena Maryland; David Burton of Baltimore; Kristin, Justin, Anna and Aidan Eyler of Towson ; Scott and Charlotte Supik of Towson; Lauren Hines of Vancuver British Columbia ;Hanna Hines of Los Angeles, California, Katie Hines and Dominick Morsell of Catonsville.
Interment will be in the family plot in New Cathedral Cemetery.
