Neil Edward Cummings (1988 - 2025)
Neil was a loving uncle, brother, son and friend. He charmed everyone who met him with dimples the size of moon craters and eyes bluer than the sky. His smile would light up every
room he walked into and no one in the world gave a better hug.
Neil met his first pals during his early years at Crosby Crossing Swim Club competing on the swim team. They excitedly read Harry Potter books together and traded Pokémon cards and later Neil could transform that beautiful smile when he worked from the lifeguard chair.
A diligent and focused student, he graduated top of his class at Catonsville High School and followed his brother Owen to Lehigh University where he earned a BS in Civil Engineering. Neil continued his studies at the University of Connecticut to earn a MS in Structural Engineering.
Neil was a voracious reader, and enjoyed fantasy, history, fiction and cookbooks. He cherished live music, and had eclectic taste, bumping everything from Rush and the Pixies to Pavement and the Grateful Dead. He was an enthusiastic sports fan always cheering on his hometown Ravens and was a season ticket holder at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. A lover of a good sitcom, Neil particularly liked Seinfeld. As in the show, he found joy, humor and absurdity in everyday situations.
Neil was a fantastic cook. He made the perfect over medium egg and he could always be found helping in the kitchen at any family gathering.
He loved meeting people from all walks of life and could strike up conversation anywhere he went. He enjoyed biking, weightlifting, and recently picked up running with the group A Tribe Called Run. A trivia aficionado, Neil had otherworldly recall and enjoyed flexing his mental muscles and socializing at weekly trivia nights.
Neil was a caring uncle to his four nieces and nephews, Eira, Saul, Jonah and Miren. He loved playing with Legos with them, swinging with them, and engaging with them with puzzles, gadgets and rhymes. He had such love for them and it showed in how they reacted to his manner. We saw him carefully consider his response to their behavior, methods of play, who they were at each moment.
Neil is survived by his parents Margaret Barenbregge Cummings and Patrick Joseph Cummings and his siblings Grace Ann Cummings, Owen Patrick Cummings and Paul-Joseph Cummings.
