Norbert T. Deppe, Sr.

(May 10, 1932 – January 23, 2019)

It is with great sadness that the family of Norbert T. (Bert) Deppe, Sr., born May 10, 1932, announce his passing after complications with pneumonia, on January 23, 2019 at the age of 86.  Bert will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 54 years, Patricia (nee Finnegan) Deppe, beloved father of Ted Deppe (Kathy), Melissa Marchetti (Mike), the late Sue Ann and Matt Deppe, loving brother Robert E. Deppe, Sr. and the late Bernard J. Deppe.  He is also survived by grandchildren Jeremy, Lauren, Brenna and Kelsey.

Bert was employed as a Gas Construction Forman with the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1994.  He was a member of Holy Name at St. William of York Church and often drove their school bus to Orioles Games with parish members.  As an avid fisherman, he enjoyed taking several fishing trips over the years with the men from the BG&E Fishing Club.  For many years, Bert helped coach the Saint Mark’s Lacrosse Club along with his brother-in-law, Charles C. Grim and brother Bob Deppe.

Bert also enjoyed spending family time vacationing in North Carolina and Ocean City.  Bert and Pat enjoyed traveling and taking cruises with close relatives all throughout their marriage.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Candlelight Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD 21228.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2019, at 5976 Old Washington Road, Elkridge, MD 21075.

Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation.
