It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our beloved Pamela Ann Fritter. On Friday, January 24th, 2025, she passed away peacefully, free of any pain, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Pamela is survived by her devoted spouse, Gary E. Fritter, Sr. As well as her loving children, Gary E. Fritter, Jr., Christina L. Hoover (Barry A. Hoover, Jr.) and dear siblings, Robert “Buzzy” Dumire (Helen Dumire), Charles W. McDaniel (Margaret “Maggie” McDaniel), Michael Fritter, Sr., Timmy Fritter and Barry Stevens, Sr. Pamela was also a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to Barry A. Hoover, III. (Caitlyn), Sarah A. Bohns (Edward), Lindsay Hoover, Meghan E. Fritter, Katherine “Katie” E. Fritter, Barry A. Hoover IV, John and Mackenzie. Including her adoring nieces, Angie and Virginia, also known as sister-cousins to Christy and Gary Jr., and devoted nephew Michael Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a myriad of fond memories for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her friends and family, who were touched by her endless generosity and love. She is already greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents, Charles and Angie McDaniel, including her sister in law, Beverly M. Stevens as well as many other cherished family members.
Pam was a constant joy and source of light. Her loss is truly devastating. A wife, mom, sister, daughter, cousin, and best friend, she was the person you needed and the one you wanted to call with any news, big or small. She was that special person who bought each kid something small at birthday parties so no one ever felt left out and who nicknamed you to emphasize the best parts about you so you knew exactly how she felt about you. An amazing cook and caretaker, it’s hard to find a photo of Pam without a baby in her arms—they loved to chew on her chinny chin chin. Penelope the clown and her various characters kept us all in stitches with laughter. She had the ability to be a safe space for the people she cared about the most. And if you knew her, you knew that was a lot of people. She had the ability to make a complete stranger her friend, even on the boardwalk at Ocean City in the middle of a crowd.
She taught us all so much. She never asked for much; all she wanted was your time—specifically, your FaceTime. Ask any of her grandbabies, kids, nieces, and nephews, and they will tell you that was the highlight of their day. She was the planner for trips, menus, and gatherings. The idea of bringing the family together brought her so much joy. She loved everything bright: butterflies, beaches, teapots, and babies. She strengthened and grew our family into what it is today, with her ability to treat people so well that they felt like they’ve always known her. I’ve never known a person who could create and maintain such deep connections the way she did.
Pam was Gary Sr.'s original pretty girl. They met at a very young age, and she’s been the apple of his eye ever since. They were planning to celebrate 50 years of marriage come February 8th—a bond so strong that not even death can break. Christy and Gary Jr. are a product of Pam’s light, and you can see so much of her in them. We rely on those who carry her spirit, as we may have lost our guiding light, but heaven has gained an angel.
To honor and celebrate the life of our dear Pammy, we ask that bright colors be worn during the visitation, as those were her favorite. Dark colors are for sad times, and this is a day to celebrate her beautiful soul. Family and friends may gather for a visitation at the Candle Light Funeral Home, 1835 Frederick Rd. Catonsville, MD 21228 held on February 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a funeral service taking place at 4:00 PM.
