Patrice Chester Burd

Patrice Chester Burd, age 80, passed away on March 22, 2021. Patrice is the daughter of the late William C. Chester & the late Lillian Patrice Chester (Neely). Patrice is the beloved wife of Frank Burd; loving mother of Hally Mason Stief, Alyson Mason Cohen, Abby Curry Finney, & Lauren Burd Wakeland; step-mother of Ingrid Burd Whitcomb, Audrey Burd Negley, & Carla Burd Hagerman; caring sister of Sally Williford & the late James Hawley Chester; grandmother of 15: Jessica and Erik Negley, Jack, Ellie and Cal Stief, Amanda Cohen, Troy, Ava, Harrison and Russell Hagerman, Virginia, Hally and Jeb Finney, Kit and Huck Wakeland.

Patrice was born on January 28, 1941 in New York City. She received a BA from St. Lawrence University where she was a Tri Delta. She earned a masters from Johns Hopkins University and taught special education at Queen Anne’s County High School & Perry Hall High School.

Patrice and Frank were married in 1983 and have resided in Pikesville, Maryland and summered in Kennebunk Beach, Maine. Patrice was an avid reader and with a great sense of adventure loved to travel. She treasured her years of counseling at Girl Scout Camps. She enjoyed the various pleasures of golf with friends and family. Patrice was friendly, wisely practical, uniquely strong and had a vivacious spirit. She was the friend of many, concerned about the difficulties of others and deeply loved by her family.

A memorial service will be announced in due course and gifts to your place of worship or your chosen charity would be appropriate remembrances.
