Patricia C D'Ambrosio

On Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024, Patricia Carey D’Ambrosio passed peacefully into the arms of God after a brief stay in the hospital. She died surrounded with love and prayer only two months after celebrating her 95th birthday with her family. Born in the Bronx in 1929, Patricia grew up in West Hartford, CT, raised her sons in Providence, RI, followed her sons to Baltimore, MD, and retired to Marco Island, Fl, returning to Baltimore to spend her sunset years with her family. She gave up a glamorous career as a model and ballroom dancer to take up the challenge of motherhood and family life which she embraced with a passion. Quickly, the professional woman who couldn’t boil an egg became the best Italian cook in the D’Ambrosio family! Born Irish, this feisty blonde thus won the title “born-again Italian” but without ever losing her Irish wit or fighting spirit. And fight she did - against the scourge of alcoholism, against the loneliness of widowhood, but always for the good of her family and the glory of God. She persevered to the end in sobriety, love, and prayer, with serenity, acceptance and good cheer. She departs preceded by her beloved husband Marshall D’Ambrosio, her dear parents Tom and Agnes Flick Carey, and her loving brothers, Thomas and John Carey. She is survived by her two sons, Carey and Marcellino, and her two daughter-in-laws, Kelly and Susan, who were as devoted to her as was Ruth to Naomi. In life Patricia was continually amazed that, with only two children, she somehow was blessed with eleven grandchildren: Marcellino D’Ambrosio of Dallas (Augusta), Anthony D’Ambrosio of Denver, Michael D’Ambrosio of California, Therese Forte (Sal) of Florida, Marisa Beyer (Erich) of Pennsylvania, Vincent D’Ambrosio (Jamie) of Baltimore, Andrew D’Ambrosio (Samantha) of Baltimore, Cristina Boshart (Alex) of Fort Worth, Lisa D’Ambrosio of Myrtle Beach, Nicholas D’Ambrosio of Detroit and Joseph D’Ambrosio of Baltimore. Known to her grandchildren as Nana, Patricia lived to see the birth of ten great-grandchildren: Blaise, Francesca and Dominic Beyer of Pennsylvania; Cecilia and Isaac D’Ambrosio of Baltimore; Marcellino “Celli” D’Ambrosio of Dallas; Augustine, Gianna and Leo Boshart of Fort Worth; and Stevie Forte of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Patricia’s memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Catonsville Maryland on Thursday in the Octave of Easter, April 4, at 10am, followed by an informal time for friends and family to express mutual condolences at the home of Carey and Kelly D’Ambrosio.
