Dear Friends,

We wanted to let you know that on June 11, 2015, Richard Lemon, 87, fell asleep and passed peacefully at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Columbia, Maryland. Richard is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Ruth Naomi; Connie Lemon of Catonsville, and Amber Vallotton and husband, Daniel, of Indian Valley, VA; grandson, Jeremiah Vallotton and wife, Katherine, of Harrisonburg, VA.

Richard was born to Marcus and Sara Lemon on February 28, 1928, in Abington, PA. Richard had one brother, Dean Lemon. He graduated from Herndon High School as valedictorian, then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a first class radar man. His tour included the Mediterranean Sea immediately after WWII. Richard then met Ruth Naomi and they married in 1951. Richard was a structural engineer for Green Associates, Century Engineering, Inc., and the Maryland State Highway Administration. Richard retired from his decades of service in 2011, thus having worked till the age of 84!  Besides his professional career, Richard was very skilled at carpentry and wood working. He also enjoyed traveling, having visited many places in United States, Canada, and Europe. One of Richard's deep joys was spending time with his grandson, Jeremiah and his wife, Katherine.

Richard will be remembered for his tenacity, determination, drive, and "not give up" attitude--to not let any obstacle stand in the way of his goals. His example of hard work, dedication, and conscientiousness is a powerful example to us all, and we will always be inspired by his life.

A private family ceremony will be held at the Candle Light Funeral Home. If you would like, please make a comment or sign the guest book.

Ruth Lemon, Connie Lemon and Amber Vallotton.
