Ronald Ernst Froede, 93, of Catonsville, MD went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2019. He was the loving husband of the late Alma Frieda (Schultz), father of Carla (Jim) Glasheen, Ronald (Melissa) Froede, Jr. and Craig (Barb) Froede and grandfather to Christine and James Glasheen III, Michael and Scott Froede, Jacqueline Froede, and Ryan, Kyle and Cory Stoner. He is also remembered by many loving relatives and friends.
Ron was born on August 31, 1926 in Pennsylvania. His family moved several times due to his father’s various jobs and military service. Ron attended Glen Burnie High School in 11th and 12th grades where he met Alma. They started dating after his discharge from the Army and were married February 19, 1949. He graduated from the University of Maryland and received his MBA from Rollins College.
Ron began his career at the Glenn L. Martin Company in 1951 as a Job Analyst and retired 37 years later (now Lockheed Martin) in December 1988 as a Personnel Manager at age 62. Retirement gave him more time to pursue his interests which included serving their church, playing bridge, traveling and golf. He was Council President at St James Lutheran Church in Baltimore from 1998 to 2008. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at holidays and at the beach.
Ron and Alma moved into the Charlestown retirement community in 2007. Shortly thereafter Alma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Ron cared for Alma in their home until it was no longer viable, at which time she moved into a nearby care facility. Ron visited Alma daily, fed her lunch and dinner and made sure her needs were attended to. In God’s timing, Alma passed away 6 weeks before Ron, enabling him to be at peace, knowing that he had fulfilled his vow to “honor and cherish, in sickness and in health, till death do us part.”
Those who knew Ron will remember his faithfulness, devotion and kindness. He was loved by all who knew him and was an outstanding husband, father and friend.
