Sally was adored by all she met due to her warm, direct, kind, caring, intelligent and witty nature and the open minded love, unquenchable curiosity and the respectful concern she had for the well being of all of Gods children and will be deeply missed by her many colleagues, friends and family.

Sally was a devoted Roman Catholic and active member of of her many parishes to include Holy Trinity Church,  St Bartholomew Church & Sacred Heart Church singing in the choir, sewing church curtains and making food for the homeless.

Sally was most proud of her BSRN education and lifelong nursing professional career.  She was a dedicated practicing cardiac CCU & ICU nurse for 50 years having worked at many Baltimore area hospitals to include, North Arundel Hospital, Carrol County Hospital & Northwest Hospital, retiring at 70 years old from Baltimore County Health Department as an Aids patient care nurse social worker.

Through her nursing contributions she has truly left this world better than she found it having cared for and comforted 1000’s of critically ill patients and their families.

Despite  working full time as an RN and raising her three active children, she consistently volunteered and served her community as a troop leader in the Girl Scouts, an American Red Cross blood donation nurse volunteer, member of the Women’s Club of Glyndon MD, bake sales & swim team meet event chair person.  If anyone she knew was in need Sally was there to help out, make a fresh fruit pie or pot of Maryland crab soup.

In addition to her talents in medicine and science, Sally was an artistically creative person making many of her own stylish clothes as well as those of her family. She loved to cook and bake and generously entertain. She gardened and made beautiful flower arrangements and wreaths. She elegantly decorated her many homes.

Sally was farm raised with an intrinsic love of being outside in nature. She loved watching and feeding wild birds. She gathered wild flowers and colorful fall leaves to decorate with and filled her house with green and flowering plants. She adopted five dear terrier companion dogs that she loved dearly - Poochy, Buttons, Muffin, Skippy & Jack.

Sadly, Sally was diagnosed with Alzheimers dementia at the age of 70 suffering with memory loss and loosing much of her abilities and independence.  Because of the effect this cruel incurable disease had in her, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater MD Chapter, 502 Washington Avenue, Suite 300, Towson, MD 21204. 410-561-9099, in memory of Sally Ann Francis Vachon.
